A number of indigenous animals have become endangered, such as the Arabian leopard and the Arabian Oryx. The Jiddat al-Harasis Reserve is home to the Arabian Oryx and the area is listed on the World Natural and Cultural Heritage register by UNESCO. Approximately 400 birds have been recorded in Oman. The Little Blue Macaw (Cyanopsitta spixii) is one of the world's most endangered birds. In 2000, the last wild specimen disappeared from its endemic region, near Curaçá - Bahia, Brazil. The direct causes of population's decline was the international trafficking of animals and the destruction of its environment. The only survivors, nearly 100, continue in captivity and mostly outside of Brazil. With effort by brazilian government and international agencies, including from Brazil, Germany, Spain and Qatar, about 80 birds undergo controlled breeding, to increase the population with genetically diverse individuals in order to save it first and, then, re-establish the species in its habitat. Places To Visit in Qatar 2017 Qatar is full of spectacular and innovative architecture that will make you stare in awe, but that’s not all it offers. There are also lots of natural wonders to admire throughout the country and we highly recommend taking a break from the city life and enjoying them. 1. Flora & Fauna With Qatar’s desert climate, you’d think there is no flora and fauna in the country, but there certainly is. It is limited, but after it rains, the desert becomes a green oasis. You can find a variety of wildlife, including reptiles, birds, foxes, flamingos and of course, Qatar’s national animal, the Arabian Oryx. 2. Stunning Dunes Qatar’s dunes are a huge attraction for anyone visiting or living in Qatar. Whether it’s for a recreation safari or enjoying the amazing views, the desert won’t disappoint. You’re bound to be impressed by the colours of the sunset and the clear night skies full of stars. 3. Ras Abrouq Rock Formations These are limestone rock formations carved by the wind, turning it into a lunar-like landscape with mushroom shapes. The Ras Abrouq peninsula is rather isolated but it has spectacular sandy beaches along with a wild deer reserve. 4. Dahl Al Misfir Cave A mesmerizing, 40m deep cave formed of fibrous gypsum. If you’re lucky, you’ll be there at a time when it’s giving off a moon-like phosphorescent glow. The peninsula is also full of rose-shaped gypsum crystals, better known as desert roses. There is no particular pathway to navigate through the cave, so you’ll just need to step on the stones. You will find that the temperature starts to decrease as you go down. 5. Al Thakira Mangroves Surrounded by desert landscapes, Al Thakira mangroves provide a special contrast of greenery. It’s quite a large vegetation area that attracts a variety of bird species, including herons and flamingos. There are some companies offering kayaking around the mangroves and it’s certainly a good way to experience the area. 6. Qatar’s Sea Stretching over a 560km coastline, the sea is an integral part of the Qatari life. With little to no opportunities for agriculture, fishing and pearl diving were quite popular and essential for generations. The water is rich with marine life, including the rare dugong, sea turtles, lion fish, dolphins and even whales. 7. Khor Al Adaid Better known as the inland sea, this is a major attraction in Qatar. Even though it’s usually said to be a sea or a lake, it’s not. It’s actually a creek surrounded by crescents of sand. It’s a UNESCO recognized natural reserve and it has its own ecosystem. It’s inaccessible by road and it’s one of the only places in the world that you’ll find the sea making its way deep into the desert. ====================== things to do in doha qatar holidays what to do in doha things to do in qatar places to visit in qatar what to do in qatar places to visit in doha qatar tourist places hotels in qatar doha doha things to do doha attractions doha qatar points of interest qatar places to visit qatar attractions qatar points of interest ====================== Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/Mega-News-1728374423845386/ Twitter ► https://twitter.com/meganews77 Google+ ► https://plus.google.com/113281215443356264322 Tumblr ► https://meganews77.tumblr.com/ Pinterest ► https://pinterest.com/meganews77/ Reddit ► https://www.reddit.com/user/MegaNews77/ Linkedin ► https://www.linkedin.com/in/mega-news-858b93137 LiveJournal ► http://meganews77.livejournal.com/ Please Like & Subscribe Mega News https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0P4_2nrwEMw2A1TCsfQYdg https://youtu.be/u6DiBu1AwiU

A pack of wild dogs happily digging into their meal did not expect it to be short-lived as this leopard ordered himself an easy drive through meal… Kruger accommodation specials here: http://bit.ly/Vacationdeals Field Guide (Ranger), Patrick Mziyako, was taking his guests for a ride when he captured this footage in Kruger, at Kwaggaspan Waterhole near Skukuza. Support our channel by becoming a Patron: http://bit.ly/LatestSightingsPatreon Patrick tells Latestsightings.com the story: “I was on a morning game drive from Jock Safari Lodge when I saw a pack of 9 wild dogs lying down. As I approached the pack, four of them stood up and began walking around. They spotted a small herd of impala 100 meters away to the western side of the road and one wild dog started stalking them. Soon, the rest join in with the chase. They singled out one impala from the herd and hurried it towards the waterhole which is nice and open. Myself, and my other colleague who was following me, watched as two dogs running on the road led us straight to the kill. Whilst watching all of the dogs feed on the impala, a male leopard came out from nowhere and grabbed the half eaten impala and raced straight up into the leadwood tree close to the road. Wow what a sighting! I was very excited because it is not easy to witness such a drama in Kruger. The wild dogs tried to fight the leopard off but it was too late. They soon left the scene after trying to stare their food out of the tree. This is a very rare sighting. The last time I got to witness this was 7 years ago at Berg en Dal camp. I would always recommend going out on drive early in the morning, because you can witness things like this without being interrupted by any other cars”. Nature reserves have been set up throughout the Sultanate to protect the natural habitats of mammals such as the leopard, Oryx, gazelle, taher, ibex, desert foxes and wild cats. Located at the hub of three different geographical land masses, Oman is host to many foreign species, such as the Golden Oriole, Nightjar and White Stork. In the breeding season, public entry is prohibited to the Dimaaniyat Islands, where there is a bird sanctuary. In winter eagles migrate to Oman, such as the Imperial Eagle and the Greater Spotted Eagle. Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation. The video show some specimens that living at Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation - Qatar.
